40 trunk latch problem

The 40 sedan had sat for some 40 + years and the mice urine had so rusted the latch that it would not open! Had to cut my way in via back seat to get it undone.

The repop latch seems decent in fabrication but mounting holes are for 10/24 screws. Not sure there is enough stock in plate to re-tap to 12/24.

Big difference in heft of 12/24 verses 10/24. Anyone out there dealt with this? Perhaps there are 10/24 fillister head screws and large star washers to mount the plate securely. Help.......

You should be able to find the 10-24 pan head screws at Ace Hardware or Fastenal. They will hold the latch in place with no problem.
