I assume that you are talking about a pickup and not a truck. In Ford "talk" or literature a truck is a 1 1/2 ton big truck.
The exhaust system for a 1940 pickup is the same as a passenger car and you can look in your new parts book under muffler(5230) and you most likely will see a drawing.
