I have been following the threads on tube shocks on the 40s and plan to do the same wit my 40 p/u. I have ran into a few problems that I need some help with from you guys with more experience than me.
1. Is a press needed to remove and install the perch bolts (40 Deluxe in this case as I am going to install a sway bar also)? After much soaking with PB, ATF/Acetone, Kroil, heat and a bfh I haven't made any progress so far.
2. What is the correct position of mounting the persch bolt? Does the shock mount eye go in front or rear and to the inside or outside?
3. I have purchased new (factory authorized) pins (51A-5464) to install in the perch bolts. Are these pressed in or supposed to be a slip fit. The ones I received are too long to fit inside the sway bar bracket so I'll have to do some grinding on the bracket.
