40 radiator hose connection to 255 Merc flathead

My 40 Ford coupe came with a make shift radiator that allowed the top hose connection to be 1-1/4". I'm replacing this radiator with a stock 40 radiator which has 1-3/4" top hose connections. Dose anyone make thermostat housings for the Merc engine that are 1-3/4" ? Or, does someone make a hose kit? Or, do I make a 1-1/4 bushing to fit inside the 1-3/4 hose to make the connection to the stock 1-1/4" thermo housing?

Mike I did the hose bushing thing no problems so far. Good luck

Go to any real auto parts store & buy 4" of straight 1-1/4 radiator hose, cut it into two equal pieces & install on your thermostat outlets. Use the 1-3/4" hoses of your choice. I used a napa Camero lower hose on my '40 uppers. Sorry but number is gone.

I checked on those bushings at Napa, they wanted $35.00. I told them to stick um. Do what 42 merc said. Walt

I think the 1 1/4 hose actualy looks better than the kit. Marv
