40 PU Hot Water Heater Location Template?

Anyone know of a template for installing the factory Ford 40 PU truck heater? The heater looks like the passenger car model with 2 doors but has differences for the mounting holes and piping thru the firewall. I have a template for the passenger model but it is different than truck. Perhaps if I could just get the precise location for placement, I can figure the rest. :DThanks RPM

Look closely at the engine compartment side of your firewall, there should be knockout plugs stamped into the firewall. You may be able to see them from the inside.

Thought I'd add this. The 40 truck heater (I'm told somewhat rare in the day) has a different hole pattern for pipes and bolts than the 40 passenger 2 door heater and both are different than the later 3 door model. The car and truck look same from front however. Obviously the car and truck have different firewalls, and with a different pipe and mount pattern there would be a different install template. The post war firewalls with knockouts would be OK for the 3 door model. I am trying to install a 2 door prewar truck heater to a prewar firewall that doesn't have knock outs. :D

I had some drawings but no luck there, was lucky enough to pull mine out of a truck in the junk yard. Went in no trouble at all. I have since noticed that there is a difference in the 6 cly models but cant offer more info. on the 6's. I do know that on the 5 I have seen there is a round cut out on the unit that should fit over the round washer and nut on the firewall. It helps to have the 3 small spacers that keep the unit away from the firewall and cardboard material, these are different sizes so that the unit can be mounted to the firewall with all of it's curves and still look even on the cab side. Make sure the hose ports do not bump into the back of the engine in any way, you only want to cut holes one time. I have also noticed that the heater is mounted slightly different in the large trucks. The cores have those 2 tube ends coming out at various angles, probably due to the engine used and or the cab, just a guess.

Hope this helps.
