40 pickup

It appears there is a differance between a 40 and 41 pickup as to how the center windshield post is attached. If someone has a 40 can you tell me if the inside center post attaches only to the inner whindshield frame or is there a bolt of some sort that goes through both pieces and into the for lack of a better word the header above the windshield. When I got my 40 that upper panel was rusted through so I don't know, I am ready to put the windshield in but would like to know if I have to drill and put a captive nut above the windshield, Thanks

Jon, I'm not aware of any differences between '40-'41 windshields. My '41 has three captive nuts in the outside bar for chrome fillister screws that go through the inside trim bar, through the seal, then into the outside bar. That's it. Nothing to the cab structure. Maybe you have added-on rear-view mirror holes? I'm not sure if they were an option.

I have a 41 and was also trying to help him with this. He sent me a photo of his and it looks different from any I have seen. Hope it is ok with Jon to post this for him!

In that pic the inside part is upside down. The sticky out bit on the end covers the gap between the screen garnish mouldings at the bottom. The gap at the top is covered by a seperate V shaped piece.
Hope this helps.
Martin.

Jerry thanks for posting my picture you have been a great help. scooder the only reason I have it facing up is the lage holes in the trim piece and the support braket line up perfectly. I do like the ides that it might be a mirror holes. Thanks for all the help guys, my buddy is coming over to help me install the windshield and mye he has an idea.

The large holes in the end of the garnish mouldings at the top are covered by the seperate V shaped piece, the screws go through the V shape and then through the large holes and into the cab.
Martin.
