40 pickup dash emblem

A friend and I have been discussing the original Ford script in the middle of a 1940 pickup dash. Were all of them embossed into a raised place on the dash? I know that in 41 they used the rectangle chromed script/plate. Thanks Barners.

What would be the size of this script? Reason being, I picked up 2 alloy scripts [5"long, 1 3/4"' high] free standing & have yet to find out what model they are from. There are 2 holding pins on back of F & D.
Thanks
Tom

Sounds like you have a couple of 39 Ford car badges, 1 goes above the trunk lid handle, 1 on either side of the hood side panels. The 40 scripts are a bit smaller and more 'compressed'.

The '40 had a freestanding script on a raised portion of the dash.....

Anyone know the exact measurement of the raised area in the 40 pickup dash where the Ford script goes? From a photo, I guess it to be 2x6 inches. I think it could be duplicated?

The raised area on the dash is 2"x6". There are 2 holes in it. It takes the same free standing script as the hoods on 39 & 40 Cars and 40 pickups.

There are alot of "40" Ford pkps running around that were built using later cabs from either pkps or old large Ford cabs... all cabs were essentially the same. As I understand it, a true 40 pickup did not have a headliner, did have the raised dash area, and did not have the hole in the cab for a gas filler tube that went to a tank under the seat. Use the best cab available on a 35-40 chassis and "keep working!"
