40 one piece valve guide how to install retainer?

I have the one piece valve guide I'm getting ready to install in a low mileage 1940 engine. I have a picture of the valve guide for the exhaust and the valve guide retainer that I got with the kit. How do you get this retainer on the guide working in such a small space? Is this the correct guide? Do I need another special tool? Any one done this before?

Valves can be installed as an assembly with a pickle bar or can be put together in the block with a spring compressor. Either way, you know tools beyond a pair of needle nose pliers will be needed right?

assemble the valves on the bench, clean valve guide bores so guides will go in easily, now you need the flatheat valve tool, it looks like a straight crow bar, install the valves and guides in the guide holes, use the valve tool to pull the guide down far enough to install the keepers, use the small grove on the bottom of the guide to pull it down, lube the guide seal to help it slide easily, you can purchase the valve tool from speedway for about $25
