40 Front End

Anyone have pictures of the 40 pickup front end? Trying to figure out how the grill, Radiator deflectors, radiator shield, radiator bar and brace, etc all go together and bolt up. Thanks

I assembled the front end on my '41 PU last fall and found that the connections became generally apparent once I started the assembly. Of course, I started with the hood and after the inner fender panels were loosely fit with the fenders, I moved to the grill, attached the top brace, side deflectors, lower chin plate, and loosely fit all to the fender panels. Mine is all apart (again) and unfortunately, I didn't take many pictures but I've found some threads on the HAMB with pictures that I've found very helpful at times. Hope these help .... here's mine at the last fitting:

And here are the links to the HAMB threads and pictures of '40 PU projects that you may find useful. Hope they help. -Ken

Still confused on where the radiator deflectors are located part number 91A-8104/5. Also known as outer grille plates. Thanks

The radiator plates fit between the grille and the fender ans sort of guide incoming air into the radiator. The pics are from my Std cpe but the grille is the same and I suspect the side shields and radiator mount straps are similar. The radiator side strap shown doesn't line up with the inner fender support because the radiator is out of position.. too far back. I hope this helps.

also check Bob Drake and Dennis Carpenter catalogs. They usually have blow-ups or diagrams of where everything goes. I took my 40 Ford standard to a body shop for re-asembly after I took it apart. They said the catalogs helped alot.
