40 ford windowshield wiper switch removal

First, remove the knob by pulling upward. You may want to hold the shaft in place (directly below the knob) with a needle nose pliers.
Secondly, from beneath the dash, remove the linkage to the switch...simply pull it out of the rubber bushings.
Lastly, remove the nut that is over the switch body. It's a bit awkward to get at but can be done.
