40 Ford pickup

I recently acquired a disassembled 40 Ford pickup. The frame that came with it is stamped *15-5612527*. Can anyone tell me if this is a 40 frame?

I think maybe now to worry...my '36 PU was stamped 18-xxxxxetc..and fell into correct number range.

My Dad had bought the truck in the early 50's, and didn't appear to have ever been taken apart before I received it.

pick-up is the same frame as a car with an exception, there are no body mounts on each side of the frame (outside) that support a car body. the running boards do not have a "knotch" for this support and were never covered with rubber like the cars were

originally when the transmission was assembled to the engine the numbers were stamped into the trans case above the inspection cover, this was done at the Rouge plant, this assembly was then sent to the various final assembly plants where it was placed into a frame and THEN the frame was stamped with these numbers suppossedly in at least 3 locations, frame rail by engine, frame rail under drivers door and rear spring crossmember pass. side. As long as it had a V8 it was done this way until the 99T was used on 100 hp trucks in 1940

ok....thanks...it looks to be a 40 frame then. Was this number also attached the the cab also? If so, where would it be located?

My 51 pickup has a metal plate attached to the inside door of the glovebox. The SN is located there and that matches my engine number. I never looked for a frame number. The number told me the truck was a Texas truck and built in Feb of 1951.
