40 Ford Pickup hood release?

How do you remove the hood release handle pin without removing the complete hood ornament and chrome strip on 39 or 40 Ford. Seams like a pain. Gordon

???? I had to replace a broken hood release handle on my 40 Tonner which necessitated the removal of the pin holding it on the bullnose and if your truck is similar there's no way to do that on the truck. The pin will be flared which means that it has to be drilled out which is best done with a drill press. After the new pin is installed it will need to be flared which also requires some sort of flaring effort (I used the drill press with an upside down drill bit). If originality isn't important the pin could be drilled deeper and tapped for a machine screw. A long way of saying that I think the bullnose has to come off the truck.
