40 ford panel 47 ford panel truck

looked for info but no luck yet is a 47 ford 1/2 ton panel body the same as a 40 panel body, ie will the 47 body go onto a 40 chassis ok like its 40 pickup cab will? thanks guys

look, I don't know, but I do known the 47 has a longer wheelbase (I'm going through all this trying to use a 42 bed on a 41 pickup) and the shape of the frame is all different.

So, if I had to guess, I'd say no, it will not fit straight on.

Mart.

There are differences at the rear of the body that requires the fender to be longer than a pickup fender (1940-41 panel fenders are the same length). I do not remember exactly what else.

35 to 40 frames are all relatively the same shape, a few mods may need to be applied to fit the different bodies. I don't think you could easily put a 47 body onto a 40 frame.

i think there are lots of changes already from 47 body. so it will not be advisable to force it into 40. it will just give you headache in the end. every year model they modify most of there parts so i think it will not really fit. ford truck parts changes every year model.

According to the "Green Book" the 40 passenger/commercial and the 47 commercial frames are not at all similar. So I do not believe that a 47 panel body will fit on the 40 chassis. These chassis are all together different.

The 42-47 half ton pickup frame and wheelbase are different from earlier; howevwer, the pickup bed sides are the same, but the fenders for the later trucks are located further rearward to accomodate the longer wheelbase. Why not go down the road and measure the length of the panel from cowl to the rear, so it can be compared to someone on Forbarn that has a 40-41 panel? I don't think Ford would have gone to the expense of strecthing the panel body when it would have been cheaper to source a shorter frame, just my two cents! In any case, good luck!
