'40 Ford LED Tail Lights

i called ledlight today and told the genteman my led bulbs were not working ,he informed me i would need a load equlizer for each bulb there are an adtional 2.50ea and installed in the wire leading to the bulb and they get hot besides ,its getting more complacated so im sending my led bulbs back for a refund , so if your led bulbs dont work you will need there load equilzer X2..me im buying 6v bright incondesent bulb 50/14 cp @.80 cents each

Hmmm...does not compute. I don't see where adding series resistance would work. The LEDs that I got are super bright when tested directly at the 6 volt battery on my '41 but are dim when installed in the brake light socket.
Have not tried running a direct wire ground back to the tail/brake light housing yet but I anticipate that would be a solution for max lumens. The other thought I had is perhaps the hydraulic brake switch has high resistance.

Not sure if your taillight lenses are glass or plastic. The 50/14 cp could be a bit too warm a plastic lens, if they are on for an extend period of time. That having been said, that is what I used before I got the LED's

ledlight's response, is very interesting, since I bought my led bulbs from them and they work perfectly, without any "load equalizers"!

I wonder if the load equalizer is not just the extra load you need to make a regular signal flasher work as the leds do not have enough draw to make a standard flasher work.

Did you try to hook them up to a battery, directly to see if they worked? Just wondering, if it is the bulb, or the socket?

The load resistor, is only a turn signal issue, not a basic function issue.

I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and they wont be here until mid-October !! From China of course. You'd think these guys would stock "some" of them here. I'll advise if they are any good when I finally get them.
