How are the doors on a 40 Ford bolted to the body? Do the flat head screws bolt into individual nuts on the back or do the screws thread into a nut plate that is threaded for all the screws on that hinge?
Joel,
Thanks for your prompt response. There were lock washers and nuts on my hinges but For some of them it's tough to get a wrench in the right spot and I wondered if maybe they used a nut plate.
Thanks again,
Although my 40 is all together I reached up above the cardboard kick panel and I can feel the 3 nuts that hold the 5/16-18 hinge screws in place on the top hinge.
I have pulled 2 40 pickups and a 4 door sedan apart and they used plates with threads in them, These are spot welded in place. A beech to get back in the correct place when they twist out.
