40 Ford convertible Top Frame

I have a 40 convertible rolling shell. Last year I was looking around for info and I ran across either a parts book or web site that sells the whole convertible frame with all the wood for $2,000. Now I cant locate it anymore.

Does anyone have info on this? I would appreciate any help. I plan on starting work this spring so I want to get all my info in order. I'm sure Ill have many questions. I plan on keeping the exterior fully stock except paint color. All the rest completely custom.

Please Help, Thanks, Frank

Wescotts Auto Restyling in oregon has 40 conv top bows and mechanisms. Oak Bows in Chambersburg Pa. makes new front and rear wood bows for these. They are really nice quality.Fran

There's one on the jalopyjournal.com then click on the HAMB and look in the classifieds. Under parts on page 17. It looks like it's missing the iron bow that runs side to side over the front seat.

Hi fcompoccio,

Did you contact Wescott's to see if they also have original shape irons or is it just the lowered street rod type?

The top specialist is on vacation but the first thing she said is for their bodies only. I'll call back at another time in a couple of weeks.. But they do sell the wood header and bow. Header is $450 rear bow is $275. So maybe I'll start there because I do have the frame. But again I saw the whole frame complete for $2,000 somewhere.

Thanks for the info.

You're welcome.

Too bad its only for their bodies but at least you can get those two parts. I'm curious too as to where you saw the frames for sale. Owning a 40, I like to keep track of such offerings.

Karl Wescott often post on the Barn, if he is on vacation he should be back before long

A bit of misunderstanding... The top irons will work well on an original car with a 2" chop. Stock height are not currently available. NONE of the parts on the irons will interchange with original irons though. Sadly, no vacations... just hiding out in the shop trying to get work done between phone calls.
