40 Deluxe Grille Trim

I'm installing new stainless grille trim bead (O1A-8182) that goes between the grille & louvered panels on each side. How are you guys fastening these? I see the originals were stapled & the black beading I took out was just pinched between grille & side panel. Pop rivets? Contact cement? Re-stapleing ? Or try to hold then in place while tightening the grille bolts?
Not a show car.
Thanks

It's pretty easy to push wire through the original holes...actually appears like staples. There were no flat staples in 1940 so the round wire, cut off looks authentic.

I'm not sure which is correct, but above where the stainless goes there is a small hole. It will accept the trim/stainless that you are installing. If you want it in there you should do so before you get to the rest of the install. As for the rest of the install I relied on the grill bolts and that has held fine. Here is a tip, leave the material a little long and cut on an angle, once it is installed you can roll the material into itself. I didn't know this until I seen it on someone elses car. It looks alot cleaner. (fender welting too)

I like to use stainless wire as fine as a hair to hold things in place when I put them together, it pulls out real easy or leave it in. This works so much better than the staples.

FUNRUNR, I'm not understanding your "tip". When you say "leave material a little long" is that the stainless? And then fold it under on the bottom?
Thanks, Bob
