I’m close to finishing my coupe. But I’m missing the truck latch. Are there pretty hard to come by?

or the latch striker and reinforcement that mounts to the trunk body? Not too hard to come by.

The actual latch mechanism in the deck lid itself. Shown in the picture above

And pictured here…

Fred at Southside Obsolete in MN might have one. Saw this on EBAY but not quite right.

A note on the deck latch.

1939 Coupes. 1940 Coupes and Convertibles.

Reproductions: First out was Specialized Auto Parts of Houston. Quality was fair to poor, given that you could take it apart and rebuild it. Mac's took it over from Specialized and the quality did not improve. I don't remember if it made Ecklers catalog. First ones were painted black (and the paint flaked off), later ones were white zinc plated. Bob Drake made one for a while, it was not bad. Powder coated black. Long gone.

If you find one with the spiral spring broken the 1932 latch spring will serve as a replacement. There is also a spring in the rotary bolt but I am not aware of a direct replacement.
