'40 Convertible-Boot Snap Location

We just finished a new top installation of my '40 Ford Convertible and have the boot made, but do not know for sure this exact information:

Number of snaps to attach the boot and location (space between, etc.).

We sure hate to get it wrong at this point.

Hoping for some help. Thanks,

Fritz

Have you contacted LeBaron Bonney? They may have the information you need. I would doubt that there were any specific measurements put out by Ford with respect to the placement of the snaps; most likely, whoever fitted the "boot" at the factory, installed the snaps.

I called LeBaron Bonney this afternoon and they faxed me two informative pictures of the snap locations. Thanks for the tip.

Fritz

The snap locations on the boot are determined by the location of the male snaps located on the side panels and along the top of the rear seat back rest.

Hi,
Could you post the pictures so us other 40 conv people can see it? Thanks!

Sure - here they are - courtesy of LeBaron Bonney.

Here are pictures of the car being loaded into our trailer for a new top. As soon as the snaps are installed, we can install the front end sheet metal.

Thanks for all the help on the little details to help us finish this car!

It all depends on where the female snaps are like Ken said when we put top on mine he pulled the top so tight had to readjust doors.Told him to back off a little. They can pull it so tight you can't open doors.Looks like fun driving it like it is
