40 Car/Truck Front Fender

I can tell the difference from as far away as I can see them. The truck has 3 bolts where it bolts to the cowl and a passenger car has 4. They look the same but are different at the cowl.

Not to pick nits too much, (but after all this forum is a restorer crowd) there are 3 relevant 1940 fenders: truck 3/4 ton +, "1/2 ton" pickup, and car. Also the irrelevant cabover fender. The car and 1/2 ton are visually similar but differ in the cowl shape and mounting and running board shape and mounting. What I look for is the angle of the flange at the cowl, the car is at about 45 degrees, the 1/2 ton straight up and down.

Occasionaly conversations will become confusion when using the word "pickup" (implied 1/2 ton to most) when the vehicle is a "tonner" (3/4 or 1 ton), or "truck" is assumed to be a "pickup" when the vehicle in question is actually a 1-1/2 + ton!
