Hopefully Kube the 40 master will come to the rescue again. I have 40 standard 2dr sedan that I want to install dome (b pillar) lamps on. I bought a Bob Drake lamp o1A-13779 on ebay still in the package. They dont quite fit. the hole in my b pillar is somewhat egg shaped or oval and didnt provide enough clearance for the lamp to fit. should the lamp fit flush with the metal or does it stay flush with the upholstered trim?? just got off the phone with drake and they say thats all they offer and have never had a problem. any ideas??

The lamp is installed atop the upholstery. Hopefully that will allow you enough clearance using the Drake repop. That trim piece that goes over the pillar is perhaps 3/16" thick.

You may have to enlarge the hole slightly. Bench test fit the lens and bezel to the housing before installing in car. All China made if I recall correctly.

OK, Kube another question. the Drake o1a-13779 only has one wire on it. what do I do for a ground?? I have a universal door jamb switch and it only has one wire also.

so I can just run a power wire to the switch and then continue to the lamp, basically putting the switch in a loop??
Yes, exactly.
Think of the switch as a "break" in the wire.
Power is "broken" when you open the switch.
When you close the switch, you are allowing the power to flow through and to the lamp.
