4 barrel carb

if mounting a 4 barrel carb on a c59 engine do you need a spacer to set the carb higher to avoid the water inlets in heads thanks trev :)

It depends on the carb. I had a 56 Caddy carb on mine and the hoses cleared. I have a Buick on it now and plan to put on a 56 Merc.

The manifolds require an adapter to fit newer carbs. The AFB/Eldebrock is too wide so you are stuck with the Holley. I would find a WCFB or a Rochester. I never had any luck with the Holleys.

I'm using a '57 Ford 4 barrel Holley on a Zephyr 12 and it's runs flawlessly. I've also used a "teapot" Holley and it too runs well.

Here is pics of the '57 Ford Holley 4 barrel mounted on a Zephyr V12. No side clearance problems.

The Teapot Holley, the early Rochester, and Carter will all work. The 4150/4160 Holley is a problem and requires a tall spacer and linkage moved to the inside.
