3W vs 5W value

Hey gents, I could like opinions on car values please.
If there were two 36 ford coupes, they were restored to the same excellent condition and with the same equipment options, one was a 5 window and the other was a 3 window.
What would be the difference in purchasing cost between the two cars.

Thanks for your consideration,

Cal

$8000 to $10,000 difference between the five window and three window. Three windows from 32-36 always command a lot more money.

Also, the Ford 3 window is more rare, at only 31,513 produced for 1936.
There were a total of 108,472 standard and deluxe 5 widows produced for 1936.

.

The number for 36 Ford 3W Coupes is 21,446. 31,513 is the number for 35 Ford 3W Coupes produced. 36 ford 5w production is correct.

The 3 window production numbers are interesting.
It seems like there are fewer 35 3 window survivors compared to 36's based on the the number of cars that have come up for sale the last few years.
I think the price differential is now much greater than $10K for similar condition vehicles.

I have noticed the same thing, after I got my 35 three window I was surprised when I saw the production numbers, around 10,000 more 35's than 36's.
I wonder how many survive today?

I wonder what documentation was used to support the statement that a '36 Ford 3 win cpe was worth $8k to $10k more than a 5 win cpe?
According to a recent issue of "Old Car Report", high book #1 '36 Ford 3 win cpe is $41K, #2 $28,700. A #1 36 Ford 5 win cpe is $40K, a #2 $28,700.
On the bottom of the scale a #6 in either body style is $1,600.
There is a certain segment of the old car family that have a big thing for 3 win cpe's, compared to the 5 windows.
When I bought my '36 in September 1952 I had a choice between 3 or 5 windows, my '36 was $225, a 3 win. was $125, could have had one 5 win. for $50., a nice standard with a bad motor, when I did not buy it a fried did.
A good friend bought the 3 win., it was a miserable car, poor visibility, hard to get into due to the smaller doors, and very difficult to carry three people in, additionally the package shelf behind the seat was very small, pretty well useless.

I know the 3 windows have always been more in demand and have always commanded a higher value, but that was in the older generation of car guys. I'm not sure that carries through to today's generation. I may be a bit biased though, as I own a '33 5 window :)
