3rd gear seems high

I was taking the pickup back to the body shop yesterday for touch up and while driving, third gear seemed to be significantly higher than I expected. The first to second shift feels normal but second to third differs alot from the roadster we have. Any comments based in experience would be appreciated. Thanks

What ratio are we talking about & what body style ? What's the motor doing lugging down ?

It may be that the pick up has a 354 ratio ring & pinion installed.

The motor needed all of the retard available and seemed to lug but pulled through. It is a pickup and I'm not sure about the gear ratio. We bought the truck dismantled and I am only getting to drive it now.

Third gear is 1:1 direct drive through the transmission. The only differences I can think of are higher ratio rear axle, larger/heavier tires, dragging brakes, or a weaker engine.

As far as I know all the gears ratios are the same in the transmitters.. They do tend to have a big 'gap' between 2 and 3..
Like the others said, maybe there is something wrong somewhere or the rear gear is really high..
