3ohm coil?

A 3 ohm coil is a 12 volt coil. It does not care what kind of distributor you have.

You do not use a resistor with it.

A 3 ohm coil would be the coil that you would need to run a model a on 12 volts without a resistor. It wouldn't matter if you used a model A, model B, mallory or whatever distributor. I 'm not sure about electronic I don't use electronic and can't speak with experience there. I run a 3 ohm pertronix flame thrower coil on my roadster with original distributor and love it. If you need a coil for six volt you would need a 1.5 ohm. both of these coils are internally resisted and require no resistor.
