'39 Wiper valve?

Out of the clear blue my wiper started running. I don't have a knob and I'm just wondering which way do you move the shaft or whatever it is sticking out of the header panel? Does it pull or turn and which way is on? It doesn't seem to want to do anything. Thanks,

Can't speak specifically for that model, but generally it's pull it out to turn it on and push it in to turn it off.

My 39 is pull out one step for slow and a second step for fast . It is an original vacuum wiper .

Same here in my '38, pull out to turn on, vacuum line runs across to the right side (Viewed sitting in the driver's seat), out behind the A pillar to behind the battery and down to a tube from the manifold
