39 transmission problems

I rebuild a few of these every year and learned some new tricks today.

Sorry that I have been out of touch but I was out of town. I'm told that it is behind a flathead and that he had a friend install a set of gears out of a 40 Ford transmission. I know that the smaller fork in the earlier covers (before 39) will not fit the later gears so I asked if the fork was 3" and he said yes. He also told me that during the holidays he is going to have the top cover removed first. He is going to have it thoroughly inspected and make any necessary repairs before taking out the transmission.
