39 standard grill

will a 38 grill fit a 39 standard? did ford make a deluxe 38 and a standard 38? were the original grills chrome?

A 38 Deluxe grille will bolt right in a 39 Standard but the stainless trim is not the same or the chrome center section. Marv

Thanks for the reply. There are some 38 grills for sale on e-bay. They are chrome. Do you think they might be reproductions?

No original 38 grilles were chrome. They had stainless trim to dress them up. You could of course chrome the grilles.

The originals have each side stamped from one piece of sheet metal. The repros have the teeth made separately and are spot welded to the sides.
