39 pickup radiator mount

Should the mount be curled up like this or do I need to bend the end down level?

Also, how much clearance between the fan and the rounded inset of the top of the radiator have? This is an original 81C radiator with the generator mounted fan.

Here are a couple shots of my 39. It has a 21 stud, not 59a but fan is moumted on gen and radiator is what came with it.

Yes that should be flat.

I think I have about 2" or so space for the fan. It fits right up in that pocket for me. I don't know why but I had a heck of a time finding a belt from the venders for my truck that worked well. It was either too long or way to short. Of course I could have used a string to get the size and go by a parts store, but I wanted a belt that didn't look like it came off a rav4.

Looks like that your corner may have taken a small crunch at one time.

Thats the pic I was looking for Tinker. My frame is a '40, therefore having a different crossmember than a '39. The 40's front engine mounts are a little higher, causing the fan to be a little higher. I don't have near the clearance that you do at the top of the fan where the radiator cutout radius is. I'm thinking I'll add a couple of rubber spacers under the radiator feet and use a longer mounting bolt. Hopefully, I won't have any issues with the hood, etc. with the radiator sitting a little higher. what do you guys think?
 
Man, I feel like an idiot. lol. I totally forgot about THAT adjustment....it's my first early Ford. Yes, my generator is mounted very high because of the belt length. It's my second belt by the way. The first I got from Van Pelt was far too short. I couldn't get it on. I called him back and he had a belt 1 inch longer and a belt 2 inches longer. I went with the 2 inches longer. Sounds like I guessed wrong. I always say "50-50-20" Got a 50-50 shot? I'll be right 20% of the time.
It's ultimately good news though. I now know I can get enough clearance. Thank you for your help.
 
:) That is good news! i don't think you'd like the nose up higher. Might throw off some of the panels as well.
