39 Ford Standard Hub Caps

I removed the stainless cap in order to paint the other half of the cap.
I am having problems putting the stainless cap back on the painted cap.
ANY TIPS OR SUGGESTIONS????
 
Get a gallon paint can, and nice thick towel. Place the towel over the paint can without the lid and then set the hubcap, stainless cap in place, face down on the towel, centered on the opening of the paint can. Then sit on the hubcap, distributing your weight evenly. The stainless will pop right on. It worked for me. Towel saves scratching the stainless.
