39 Ford distributor/ignition

About to try my first start. I am wondering if I should replace points, condensor, rotor, coil etc or is there a replacement electronic ignition for a 39 Ford truck? This was always a problem on our Ford 9N, so I am thinking this truck hasnt been touched in 10 plus years and probably needs distrub. tune up? your experience is appreciated greatly

Also what type of fluid is best for the transmission and rear end?
And I am planning on using SAE 30 in the engine, not HD
What type of antifreeze is best also?

I am a novice with this old beautya and just want to be careful.

The old coils are bad about failing when warm. I sent my 39 distributor and coil to Skip Haney in FL. to set up distributor and rebuild the coil. He did a great job at a fair price. I would recommend him.
 
After that amount of time the points will almost certainly not make good contact. So you should clean or replace them. On my truck that would sit unused over the winter I had to clean the points before it would start the next summer.

While it is apart take a look at the wires, rotor, cap, etc. and decide if they look like they need replacing.

You will have the parts in fronty of you, so you might be better able to judge, but the points that are in it may be better quality than the ones you might buy to replace them.
It might be worth just cleaning what you have and giving it a go.

I have excelent quality USA made points and any other dist small parts if you need . ken ct.
