39 deluxe sealed beams

Still exploring my options as I don’t see anyone who has original headlamp sockets.
Marko, I have some old sockets that appear pretty good. Send me a photo and I'll see if I have what you need. I'll send you a PM and give you my e-mail.

I like these 6v Bosch relays. They don’t make the metal ones anymore as the diagram talks about them.

And here is a great diagram for 6v positive ground from the late Fordbarn member jseery

As a follow up, found nos sockets as these are no longer being reproduced, repro reflectors and new bulbs.Even the reflectors took 6 weeks after I ordered them. We all know that the parts are being discontinued and I found that to be true. Just finished working on one bucket down in my basement next to the wood burner and am happy with parts and the fit.

If your source for NOS lighting sockets has more of the same, I'm sure fellow Barners would jump on them quick if you post the contact.

Re: 6 volt relays
"I was told a couple weeks ago on Fordbarn that Bosch makes a good one but never found a 6 volt one."

6V 30 amp Relay
0332204001
Used as dimmer relay
In 1950 to 1966 VW
Also listed as:
Merced 0035340245

Found the sockets on eBay. Don’t think that seller had more. My 39 is one step closer to seeing the road since the 1970s . It looks like these buckets will benefit from an additional ground, is it advisable?.

Thanks for the excellent information!

For the new socket you might try a wiring harnes vender. They sometimes sell the headlight harnes seperatly with plugs. Tim

So why not post the link so others can check?

If I knew how I would. Just went to eBay a typed in 39 ford headlight sockets is how I found them. Just tried that again and nothing.

Okay, understood. In the selections for composing, use the "earth icon" with the "chain link" below it. It's right above the "knew how" in the first line of the quote above.

When I restored my 39 Lincoln Zephyr I sent a pair of original reflectors to Uvira Coatings in Oregon and they put a highly reflective coating on them that’s very durable. You must have the reflectors nickel plated before sending them. I used original 6 volt headlight bulbs and was very impressed with the bright white headlights on my car. Keep in mind that all connections must be clean and tight . Contacts inside the switch must be clean.I would recommend not using reproduction reflectors.
