while i am helpin my dad align our hood on the fordor, i am going to want to start back on my 39 coupe at some point.

the doors are a bit out, as they were taken off at the hinges at some point, probably an easy alignment by just lossening and ligfting.

the trunk is out as well. maybe same idea lossen bolts and shufle around. only problem when doing this then it does not close shut.

and my hood is also slightly off, but hope to use the same tricks as the 40 deluxe hood.

The only door adjustment controled by the hinges is the front to back gap of the door to the hinge post (cowl). This is done by bending the hinges.

The fit to the latch post is controled by the accuracy of the body and the alignment of the body to the frame. You need to have the correct rubber pads and you may have to shim the body to the frame pads at various points.

If there has been major repairs to the body, especially in the floor or sill area, it is easy to warp the body. Major door repairs could warp the doors. Major frame restoration could cause issues. Anything wrong with these three would have to be corrected before good door alignment could be achieved.

For hood and front fender fitting see Kube's excellent post in the other thread here today.
