39 Clutch Pedal Assem. to 8BA engine

I am running a 39 pedal assembly to a 8BA cast iron bellhousing with stamped arm. What return spring should I use and where should it be secured on the block. All information and pictures would be appreciated

Can you not hook the return spring off of the pedal assembly lever pin to some place on the frame?

I modified the 39 assembly with a new lever end (early Street Rodder magazine article). I ran a cobbled spring from a steering box bolt at an angle to the throw out bearing lever. I believe a shorter spring can be run from the arm to some sort of bracket off the engine to keep it square to the block.

On my 8RT(8BA) in my 50 F-1, there is a off set bracket that goes on one of the small bolts that hold the starter plate on. The spring attaches to that ( small hole in bracket ) and back to the clevis pin with the knob head. It's the same pin that goes back to Model A days. I've also seen a circular disc bolted to that same bolt that had a hole for the spring. That I'm unsure as to being factory. Probably made up.

Looking @ my pre-disassembly photos my spring runs just to the right of my lefthand chatter rod. Pulling rearward, It helps pull the pedal back up to position. Spring to the front (block) would not work this way:eek:

Hope this helps Scott.

Thanks for the info guys. Since I am running a modified 39 pedal assembly I think the solution that Barry-ct has will probably be the way to go. I was hoping to find out which spring to use and possibly a picture but I will cobble something to make it work.
