'39 1/2 Ton - Brake Drum Color?

I have never seen a NOS one painted. At the plant, when everything on the frame was assembled I understand that a fast coat of black was shot on the whole thing. Cotter pins and all. I may be wrong. If I am, someone show me differently. my 2¢.
