38 PU Radiator Mount

Both of my newlt aquired 38 pu's have the radiator bolted tight to the frame with a thick rubber pad between the frame and mounting ears. I was thinking that the bolts were supposed to be the loger type like the Model A bolts that had a spring and castle nut above the radiator. Sure enough I checked an older flathead catalog and they call for the A type mounting up until 42 on all body types. Just wanting to make sure of this although it will be a couple of months before I start doing anything to the pu's. Maybe the crank will line up properly with the radiator mounted right. Thanks Rod

To do a period correct you would use the loger type bolts with the spring, I am using a frame pad between and stainless bolts with lock nuts.

Thanks, I was questioning the parts book alittle on this one with the weight of the radiator compared to the A and the fact that the grille and front fenders are more firmly attached to the radiator. I have several sets of the radiator bolts with springs on hand. Rod
