Some time back son and I bought a 38 club convt.originally from south America .we have just started working at it .It is so worn out it has been run hard for many years and each time put away wet ,there is more weld on the body than original metal .and lots of nonford parts .We are going to need a complete cowl and frame as a starter both which might be hard to find .Were 35 to 38 cowl and frame the same . Is a pick up frame the same .would the lower part of a 2or 4 door cowl be the same as the convt.Johnny.

Go speak with Bob Booth in Fitzroy Harbour. He has a million parts and a lot of convert. bodies.I am sure he can fix you up with a nice body or parts at a reasonable price.I believe he has at least 4 "38 convert.bodies. - Dennis

35-36 Cowls are different.35-40 pass car frames are basically the same except for some mounting hole locations and front crossmembers.I put a 38 frame under a 35 roadster I did years back without to much problem.I cut the section where the VIN is on the rusted 35 frame and welded in the 38 frame(same location).

There are some "extra" cast parts on the open car frames. I put a 38 frame under a 37 and had problems with the angle of the front clip. Looked great but the hood panels did not line up.

johnny you may want to check w/ aircooled on this website....deals alot in frames and very knowledgeable....he may have what your lookin for....good luck gump

You might want to find a convertible frame for it. If I recall correctly the crossmember on the open cars was a thicker guage steel and there are extra braces where the rear of the cowl mounts to the frame.

It seems to me that the bottom of the 2 dr and 4 dr cowls are differant in that the frame mount at the door jamb is much heavier on the convertible. Try to find a convertible cowl or at least the bottom of the cowl.
