Panels are not the same for '38 and '39. Which do you need? Might have '38 panels available.

I would like to know what the difference is between the two years. I would hate to sell or buy the incorrect parts. I always thought they were teh same. The front fenders are the same as far as I know. The grilles are the same dimensions. They have the same inner grill piece, same bar across the rear of the grill, and the same radiator side pieces and below grill panel. The hood side panels are the same as are the inner fender panels with the exception of the juice brake mousehole being present on the 39. The 39 grill was used as a replacement grill for 38 which I believe is why the 39 grill is tapped for both types of hood latch pieces and why I see NOS 39 grilles but have never seen a NOS 38 grill, although I would think there must be some somewhere. With the fenders and grilles being the same dimensions I do not understand how the filler panels could be different. I know the 3/4 ton on up does not interchange with the half-ton.

I should havethe 39 half ton pieces, but am not sure what exactly you are talking about. Incidentally, while the 38 and 39 side hood pieces can be made to work by putting the 39 locating bracket on the 38 pieces and vice versa, the hood sides differ in that the 38 side bars are 4 sided, mimicking the grille bars, the 39 side bars are semi round, mimicking the 39 grille bars. Working on a 38 3/4 ton with a 39 half ton as a parts car, I have found numerous small changes between the two. Good luck!

I would really appreciate it if anyone could provide pictures showing the differences between 38 and 39 commercial filler panels between the grill and the front fenders. According to the parts book, both years carry the same parts number. I would also appreciate it if anyone could provide pictures showing the differences between 38 and 39 commercial hood side panels. According to the parts book, both years carry the same part number. I read the explanation of the differences written above and am pretty confused. I have some of the filler panels and have some of the hood sidesand would not want to use them or sell them for the incorrect vehicle.
