hey you guys out there with your '37 with the one year only bullett style tail lights. iv'e had some trouble trying to keep the mounting ring from letting the lens falling out. couple of yrs. ago i had too rebend the little keeper at screw on bottom of housing. worked for two yrs untill today. i was doing a walk around after having the car out for a much needed mental health ride ;) and saw that the mounting ring was looking loose just barely touched it and the glass lens fell to the floor. did not break. is there any thing you guys do different with the mounting ring and screw at bottom of light housing? thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. Tom.

On my '37 there was a cork gasket involved to steady the lens...

I guess you could use a rubber O-Ring as well...

Thanks pete, the cork gasket is spit and has been for a few yrs. i will try a oring although not much room for much thickness.the real problen i believe is the little curved piece of metal that the screw goes through the said curved piece. Tom.

After it fell out was the mounting screw missing? If it was missing I think mounting screw may have been to small or the hole in the mounting tab may have been stripped out, Vibration probably caused the screw to fall out and allowed the ring and lens to come loose..

Nope, screw has not fallen out.problem that little bent piece of steel thats supposed to grab the stainless ring that holds the lens in place is a not so good design. i had a '30 model A todor sedan in1980s and those taillights were of better design with a solid secure mounting ring. i like the look of my tail lights but the one screw device not so much. Tom.

All O-rings are not the same thickness. There is a great variety of thicknesses available. Look up on your computer to see if there is an industrial O-ring supplier close to you. I have used Anchor Rubber Co.as a source for my needs.
