*37 Pickup Wiper Motor*

I just pulled the wiper motors out of my pickup. Can someone tell me if these are the original 6v motors or aftermarket? My pickup is running a 12v system and one wiper worked for 5 min when I got the pickup. Can the 6v motors run on 12v? Thanks.

They are not original motors, 37 fords had vacuum wiper motors. You should not have any trouble selling the 6 volt and finding 12 volt wiper motors since all wiper motors are 12 volt now.

Electric motors for continuous operation generally have fine windings that would likely not last well if run on a higher voltage than they were designed for. A high torque intermittent service motor like a starter can take a higher voltage but there are 12-volt fields available that will fit the old 6-volt starters after they crap out. As was mentioned, there are still 12- volt motors available that you may be able to adapt as those were.
