*37 Pickup Rough Ride*

So the half dozen are so cars I built must be wrong you should be able to take the spring out or put in buy hand with out any weight or mounted on the car

You're proving my point! Your information is WRONG and DANGEROUS on a '28-'48 Ford, as well as some others. DD

There is major confusion here, this is true of later model springs, it is NOT true of early Ford springs. You could not possibly mount one of these early springs by hand, so there has to be major confusion going on as to what we are talking about.

Guys I appreciate all the suggestions and I think for now I'll just leave it alone for this summer and drive it the way it is and avoid the bumps as possible and go slow over RR tracks. I will re-visit this topic in late Fall.

I have built at lest 6 model a with out one and had no trouble doing it the back one is not the same you have to have one or take the spring apart

I not going to say any more about it

zippi.....One last question...how does the front of the truck react if you jump up and down on the front bumper? Does it move up and down much like it should, or is it stiff as the proverbial board? DD

I did that. I posted 3 short videos in post #25.

My post above was based on observing the videos. the spring looks very stiff, no deflection in the middle. The shackles look ok, the shocks aren't bottoming.

Mart.

Well I have a similer problem. I thought I had it covered last year but no soap it still has a hard fron end, The rear is now OK I have Long parrell leaf springs off a 51 Merc. I will be changing shocks tho to 70/30.
