37 Helmet Distributor noise

Recently, the distributor has developed an intermittent 'screeching noise'. The noise occurs at start up, then goes away; push the throttle and the noise is back. It's also intermittent while cruising; annoying. Any suggestions? Also, in addition to the oil passage (full), what parts of the distributor should be lubricated?

Check the front lube cap and put a few drops of oil in it.
What full oil passage are you talking about?
That distributor is lubed from the front of the cam and the
front cap I mentioned.
If the leather pad has come off the noise will not be intermittant

The leather pad has come off; no where in sight. Guess its time to remove the distributor to find. Fortunately I can drop by C&G in the morning for a replacement. I was referring to the oil passage via front lube cap; full. What else, if any, should be lubed using distributor cam lube? This 'ole Ford keeps me on my toes; learning as I go.
