'37 fuel gauge

My '37 6v positive ground - has been converted to 12v negative ground.

The gas gauge did not work when I purchased the car. I removed the gauge -sent it out to be rebulit - installed the proper sending unit in the gas tank- checked the wiring from the tank to the gauge ( ok ) wired it up and - NOTHING.

Back on my back - and removed the gauge - I noticed that the gauge had a penciled in + ( from the factory ) . After realizing that the + was then used to go to ground - Some how - and I can't remember how, or why - the gauge now has been marked + - on one terminal ?????

So , can anybody tell me which terminal do I connect to which wire and how to install a voltage drop ?

Thanks in advance Rayzor
