Ok guys, just got the beast home today to start working on her, this picture is what she looks like right now. I'm going for a nice classic resto mod, I'm going to scratch the stake bed and put on a regular pick-up bed so it goes along with the theme I'm after, so let the fun and work begin.

Just have lots of fun think I am about done with mine. Good luck to you on your project Keep us informed. ~~Walts37~~

That does not appear to be a 37. It looks like a 38 or 39. The front fenders and headlights are 38/9 and from what I can see in the picture, it does not appear to be 37 cab doors or rear fenders.

I agree with others that is a 38 or 39. You may want to rethink changing the flat bed for a pickup box. Ford offered that style flat bed in 39. Attached is a scan from a 39 Ford brochure. That style flatbed may be more rare than the pickup. Check to see if any of the bed parts are Ford scripted.

Ford had a factory half-ton stakebed pickup from 1937-1939...only 3 years. I have not seen many of the 38/9 ones but have several friends with 37's.

I agree! I would keep the stake bed....very neat and unusual.

Well all I know is my original title says it is a 1937, I will do more digging to uncover more information.

When I paid for my truck the man told me it was a 1939.....got it home found the serial number on the frame and found out it was a very early 1938 model.

I do believe my engine to be original and I did find a stamped date of 11-16-1937 on the engine.....maybe your truck is also a very early 1938 model.

If it is it will have a 21 stud flathead if the engine is original.

Ok, got the serial # off the frame it is 54-379285, on the top of tranmission reads L671, the heads have 59A-B on them and are 24 stud head

Your truck is around 250 numbers above mine......Vanpelt website claims the 24 stud engines were not installed until serial number 380,120....your truck is very close to that.

Interesting. According to Van Pelt's list the 54 prefix means it was assembled with a 60HP engine. The 59 engine series started in '46. The heads could be on an older 24 stud engine. If you can see the back of the block look for "59" cast on it. If it is a 59 block it's a good chance it's a 239CI.
