Keep the rare platform with stakes, there are plenty of pickups around.
If it's a '39, it'll have factory installed hydraulic brakes.

Regarding whether it is a "1937" or "1938", some vehicles in some stated got titled as to the date they were first registered, NOT the "model year". So if this is a 1938 model sold in December 1937 it could have been titled as a 1937.

I once had a very interesting troubleshooting issue with a guy in North Dakota who could not get parts we sold to fit his "1934" pickup. After a bunch of phone calls and photos (and some research on his part) it turned out he had a 1931 Model A pickup which had been used as a utility/demo by the dealer (with dealer plates) and was not actually sold for the first time in 1934... And dutifully had a 1934 title.

very cool truck and rare for a stakebed....be nice to keep original....good luck with your restoration

I have an identical 37 stake bed which I hope to finish restoring in a couple of weeks. All done except putting the grill and hood back on. Frame off restoration. I can email you pics of the before and after if you ship me your email address. I made a new stake bed with an oak floor and walnut side racks. Came out beautiful. I wouldn't think of putting a pickup box instead of the stake bed. It's all original except 8BA engine and juice brakes. jdurnil@aol.com

Have you finished your truck and if you did do you still have the stake bed. I am looking for one and have a stock bed with fenders all original. It came out of Nebraska. Please let me know. My truck is a 38 1/2 ton. Gregg Wilson
