37 fender welting

I'm rough fitting fenders, inner aprons, and hood sides. I'm having trouble picturing where the fender welting goes. The 1937 Book says grill to running board, if between the fender and apron it would place the 3/16 bead inside ? Does it go on top of the fender flange between fender & hood side, this would of course put it on top exposed with the hood side off ? Any info is appreciated, Zeke

Just did my 39 and the welting goes between the fender and the inner splash apron. I think the 37 runs welting from the runningboards, along the fender to the grill. A seperate piece then goes between the fender and the grill. With the side pannels on, the bead will be on the outside.

had the same problem with my 35 pickup. I placed the welt all along the fender. I preglued it and cut holes for bolts. I used a box of clothes pins to hold it til the glue dried. You dont see the welt as it goes under the cab but serves as a good antisweek. also found that real loose front fender braces lets the grill slide in.

im putting a 37 back together that someone else started. does fender go on top of splash shield or does it fit underneath

There are some drive in nails that hold some of the whelt on, look for small holes in the fenders. The inner fender splash shield goes on the inside of the fender and has whelt between it and the fender and something like friction tape on the engine side of the shield what the hood side panel fits.
