 Hey Guys, are the 37-38 sedan rear bumper brackets the same as those used on the coupes, are they shorter & closer to the rear pan, ? what, if any, are the differences ?
also, are 37 & 38 bumpers the same & in bolt spacing also, thanks.

'37 coupe and sedan rear brackets are shorter.
They lengthened the rear fenders for 1938 to make the cars seem longer.
'38 standard sedan/coupe & '38 deluxe coupe/conv brackets are a little longer than '37.
'38 deluxe sedan and '39 all are longer still.
Confused ?
Me too.

The 37 and 38 bumpers are not the same period .The rear bumper for 37 has a much greater curve that the 38 .the arms are shorter at about 8/9 inches. the hole distance is 16 inches .the bumper end is curved down refered to as a frown. The 38 is shorter with less curve ,longer arms at12 inches with hole distance at 13 inches . the frown is up referred as smile the bumperetts are also different to fit the bumper shape when they are turned over The 38 front and rears are the same but with different front arms . We are restoring a 38 and have been looking for a 38 ,they are hard to find .We have a real good 37 rear bought by mistake for a 38 it has also the arms should you need one . hope this helps need more infor .come back Johnny.

The '38 standard and deluxe coupes have the '37 style curved rear bumper turned upside down.
The hole spacings are about 13 inches between the outer and inner holes.
You can rework the hole spacing to make a '37 rear fit a '38, but you then probably need to get it replated.

'37 rear bumper bar sedan/coupe 77-17775-A

"38 standard and deluxe coupe/conv/stst wagon rear bumper bar 74-17757
