36 truck floormat..

I've been looking on the internet, and have found where I can get some inner door panels headliner and, engine wall cover/insulation.. But I haven't found anyone that has a precut floormat for the 36.. Are there some out there, or somebody that makes um, or will I have to improvise? Thanks.

I had to improvised on my mat as no one is making PU mats.

First thing I did was to cut a piece of 2 x 12 the length of the distance from the back of the transmission cover to the front of the seat riser, then formed a piece of about 14 gauge sheet metal to match. I rounded the edges of the wood and sheet metal to blend in with the transmission cover, thereby sort of making an extension to the transmission cover which eliminated the hump in the floor.

Then I got some el cheapo indoor/outdoor carpet and cut a mat pattern. Took a couple of tries to get it right. I then transferred the pattern to a piece of rubber mat that I got from Tractor Supply. The mat had ridges on one side and sort of a bumpy surface on the other. I chose to use the bumpy surface on the top side.

The mat fits great,, looks great and feels great. Mat is approx. 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.

Sorry I can't post a picture at this time.

Ya do what ya gotta do.

Couple of years back, I purchased a mixture of miscellaneous early Ford V-8 parts from a friend of a friend. Among these parts was a new, never been used floor mat, still rolled up inside a box it had probably been shipped in. A label on end of box reads... 1935-36, Pass, Front - Black, pn VS-48-700400-B, Old Time Auto Parts, Cottage Grove, Wis., 53527, shipping date, 1984. I would have expected a 32 yo rubber mat like this to be very brittle and full of cracks when unrolled, but this old mat has held up unbelievably well and is still very soft and flexible.
One opinion I recieved on the ID of this mat is it's for a 35 PU. Anyone else care to comment on what they consider the actual use for this mat would be since the label could have been applied incorrecrly or someone could have used this box to store a different mat.

John, I'm guessing passenger car since there is a hole for the gas pedal and the gas pedal accelerator rod. A pickup would have a spoon pedal mounted on the firewall. The hump over the transmission also seems more oblong shaped instead of rectangular shaped as with a pickup.

It definitely is not a 35-36 pickup. It appears to be from a sedan as there is a cut out for a hinged gas pedal where the pickup is the spoon type that comes through the fire wall and not the floorboard.

Bingo Don. We posted at almost exactly the same time it seems. :D

I needed a mat for my 39 pkp. and no one makes them . but JOES AUTO PARTS sells one uncut for pickups , when it came it was in a CARPENTER box it works great after cutting for needed holes SUNSHINE

Don, wondering which 35 passenger car or light commercial vehicle (not considering1/2T pu, panel truck, or big trucks, etc.) would have used a black front floor mat? Or would this possibly be considered a repro of the "universal, fits all" type mat like Ford released for service? Thanks for chiming in on my earlier post here Don, and apologies for diverting somewhat from the theme of the original post :o

Where is Joe's auto parts?? I googled it and there are a ton of joes auto parts.

John, My guess is that it was probably made as a replacement in the 1950's sometime. It is actually a 36 replacement, not 35. Notice the location of the emergency lever hole vs the shift tower hole. The black color was typical of later fits all replacements. Not a Ford approved item for 1935/36 passenger cars.

Thank you Don, appreciate your responses. I will probably use it in a 35 driver.

They were still making black 35 and 36 mats (pass. car) as of a few years ago, and were cheaper than the taupe. They make black 33-34's as well even though non such ever existed. Paint it with SEM and it would be good to go!
