36 to 39 wide five wheels

I have 4 good wide five wheels that I wonted to use. They are powder coated and have the hubcaps with them. I was looking in the speedway rag the other day and found the answer. Speedway sells an adapter for the wide 5 wheels. This will adapt the wide five to the 5 on4 1/2. That will save me time and money. There was a thread a while back where someone was looking for 18" wide 5 wheels. A fellow answered and said he had a 16". If one of you have one I need a spair. Hubcap also I did go to the wonted section. I think the wheels are going to look ok on the Flathead powered 29 roadster. Thanks Lyle

Can't see where an adapter will help you. Most common brakes for an A/V8 use either wide fives or 5 on 5.5 bolt circles. I don't like adapters but, if you think it'll save you money then what money? There has to be more of this story. Easy and cheap to find drums for the wide fives. That's why they're used on low dollar projects. Sounds like you're using more modern brakes? or What? Good luck: Fred A

Fred A. Hello today.I have 5 on4 1/2 front disk. And 5 0n 5 rear. The wide 5 wheels looklike new with hub caps and new whitewall tires. Cost a bunch to get new wires or smoothes. And tires . I like the way these look.thanks for the come back.

Not selling or bashing anyone's product, just giving you alternative thoughts.

You might want to check with Dick Spadaro (he's on here). He has them also. One nice thing he does is use 1/2" lugs rather than the 5/8" that Speedway and the rest of the roundy round sources have. Small issue, but most of us have a store of 1/2" already. Another thing to check is clearance on the back. These are flat, so if your discs or drums won't work with flat because of casting lumps or whatever that's an issue. Also the lugs are usually large button head fasteners that protude on the back and can interfere with some drums or calipers, depending on configuration. Not sure if 5 on 5 is commonly available, might double check that, though drilling them for that isn't that tough for someone with the skill. Lastly, these are a common item for the roundy round guys and are often available on the usual known auction and resale sites. The concern with used though is racers aren't always kind to their parts (how's that for understatement?), so cracked or bent pieces may be why they're for sale, so personal inspection would be wise.

They do push the wheel/tire combo further out by the thickness of the plate, about 3/4" if I remember correctly, not as much of a problem on a fenderless car, but something else to consider.

Hello uncle Bob. I will have to make spacer rings for the rear to gain a flat fitment. The rear is a 5 on51/2 bronco 87.the front is model A speedway disk 5 on 41/2. I have milling machine to alter the bolt configuration to 5 on 5 1/2. Also a lathe.I have a pretty good home shop. A frend also will let me use his machine shop. The thing is now I would love to have one more wheel for a total of 5.and one ov my hubcaps with the V8 logo is dented.I am on a little hand held phone.I weld and frabricate better than I can spell. Thanks Lyle.

I have some wheels, though I don't know if I have extras more than a set of 4, but I won't be getting back home for another month or so. I'm sure if you keep posting and updating your want ad (try the HAMB too) there's got to be one available and near you. I know there's a set currently on the HAMB.

Lyle, give Dick Spadaro a call he will get you on track with what you need to do, these wide 5 wheels are easy to find, check craigs list. or run a add right here on the Barn, Dave
