36 pickup with 1953 ECA Merc motor, Pass side will not get up to thermostat minimum temperature (180) . The driver side runs at 180 thermostat setting Both thermostats are new and checked them on the stove with boiling water. The pass side will only get up to 135. Checked with IF gun both sides same place same distance. Brand new brassworks radiator. If I had air pockets it would run hot it has been cold here but it should get to thermostat temp. The driver side does, the heater is on the pass side but I have bypassed the heater plumbing but will not get up to thermo minimum temp – Looking for somebody with some suggestion. 36fordguy

First I would switch the thermostats from side to side. Then you will know for sure that one of them is not the problem. Start with the easy things first.

I agree with switching the thermostats, but it is interesting that it is the passenger side that is having the issue and it is the side with the heater connections. Are you sure the heater hose valve is closed. Also, might check the temperature of the coolant out of the bottom of the radiator. The coolant mixes in the radiator and it is a little hard to believe that it could remain that cool on one side of the engine with the other side at 180. That would mean that if the temperature of the water out of the radiator was above 135 that the engine passenger side is cooling it! What is the outside temp while you are taking these measurements? If it is cool out, try blocking off half or more of the radiator and see if that gets the temperature up. Also, are you sure the thermostat didn't turn on the one side? Lots of possibilities.
